Set up your account
Choose the setup that matches how you want to use Breakout. You can coach others and train yourself with one coach account.
Train myself
- Choose Athlete at signup and complete the athlete setup: sport, personal details, goal and availability. Your race calendar sets what you train for; Settings → Training → What you train for holds the fallback for weeks without a planned A or B race.
- In Settings → Connections, choose Connect with Intervals.icu and approve Breakout on your own Intervals.icu account, or paste your athlete ID and API key. Check the sync status; being connected is not proof that the first import succeeded.
- Open your dashboard and calendar. You can record a baseline test in Physiology when you are ready; account setup and test readiness are separate.
Train with a coach
- Choose Athlete. If your coach sent an account-claim invitation, use that link to keep the athlete record they already created.
- Complete your profile and check Settings → Connections. Use your coach’s invite code there if you are not already linked; the coach accepts the request. Your race calendar supplies the target race; your coach sets the fallback profile.
- Check that your Intervals connection has synced. Your coach manages planning and tests; your own account shows the training and results shared with you.
Coach athletes
- Choose Coach. In Athletes, share your invite code with existing users and accept their requests. They keep their own login and data connection.
- Add athlete creates a managed record without another login. Import from Intervals.icu links athletes who authorised you there. Managed creation and import require Coach Pro.
- Open each athlete to check setup and Intervals sync before planning. Saving a workout to your library does not put it on an athlete’s calendar.
Coach athletes and myself
- Use one Coach account. In Athletes or your dashboard setup checklist, choose Add my own training. The form selects This is me and fills in your name; creation follows the same Coach Pro permission as Add athlete.
- Complete your own athlete profile and connect your own Intervals.icu account (Connect with Intervals.icu, or your own athlete ID and API key). Connecting athletes on your roster does not automatically connect your own training record.
- Your own roster row is marked as you. Open its Training tab for your plan and workouts. For a library workout, Edit details changes its description; Edit workout structure opens the block editor.
Keep API keys private. Enter them only in the connection form, never in messages, feedback or screenshots.
